In April 1987, Amphenol Acquisition Organization, a newly formed subsidiary of the LPL Investment Group of Wallingford, Connecticut, beat them out with an offer you of $430 million. LPL was a publiclyinvestment firm that had been formed only two years earlier to make acquisitions in the electronics and communications fields.
